About the role

We are looking for a Python Development Team Leader with passion, skills and ambition to lead Movieday’s technological scale up.

To apply for this role, in addition to having a proven management background you must also have proven technical capability and a track record in software development combined with experience in the leadership of software development teams and delivery of projects within a software development environment. 

Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. This will include working closely with the CTO, CEO, UX/UI designer, Project Managers.

  • Web Development : NGINX, WSGI, TurboGears2 or Pylons, Beaker, DEPOT, Repoze, React, RactiveJS, HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Databases: MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
  • Systems: Linux, Ubuntu

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and train the development team
  • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications
  • Integrate software components and third-party programs
  • Verify and deploy programs and systems
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
  • Gather and evaluate user feedback
  • Recommend and execute improvements
  • Create technical documentation for reference and reporting

Requested Abilities

  • Experience of people management and the ability to lead and influence others
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • A record of successful delivery of SaaS and cloud-based applications
  • Extensive programming experience using Python as a programming language
  • A commitment to producing robust, testable code
  • Mastering the local technology stack
  • Understanding version control best practices in a Python environment
  • Database knowledge (SQL, index, transaction, schema design, etc.)
  • Experience in system operations (deployment, monitoring, logging, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience with client/server architectures
  • A keen interest in learning new things
  • Excellent organisation to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1+)
